At CPOECU, we believe in the importance of education and investing in the future of our youth. That’s why we are excited to announce that we will be awarding a $3,000 scholarship to a deserving student in 2024!

Applicants must be a high-school student or young adult between the ages of 17-25, actively enrolled or planning to enroll full-time in an undergraduate college, university, vocational or trade school within the 2024-2025 school year. All applications will be reviewed based on academic history, leadership skills, community involvement, and financial need.

Program Dates

All applications must be submitted by May 31, 2024 for the upcoming 2024-2025 academic school year. Recipients will be notified by phone in June 2024 and awarded a physical check in early July 2024.

Judging Categories

The committee will review and select a recipient based on their:

  • Essay
  • Academic achievement
  • Letters of recommendation
  • Leadership abilities
  • Extracurricular activities including school and community involvement, sports, volunteer work and work experience.
Eligibility Requirements
To be eligible for the scholarship, you must meet the following criteria:
  • Either be a graduating high school senior, a current college student, or a young adult between the ages of 17-25.
  • Have a minimum GPA of 3.0.
  • Accepted to or enrolled in an accredited college, university or trade school for Fall 2024.
  • Active member of the Chicago Post Office Employees Credit Union.
  • Account must be in good standing with the Credit Union.
Application Process
Your completed application must include the following:
  • High School or College official transcripts.
  • Two letters of recommendation (not from a relative or family friend).
  • Essay (topics listed in application link below).
  • Acceptance letter from College, University or trade school you plan to attend.
  • Resume (if applicable).
Distribution of Award
The scholarship check will be made out directly to the recipient’s school or institution. The scholarship funds must be used for tuition, room and board, books, or a combination.
